Engadget is reporting that Verizon is rolling out a new interactive media for guide for Verizon FIOS TV users. Looks really nice... Now, if they could just give me a bigger hard drive for the DVR...

HowTo: Copy HDTV from your Cable Box to your PC!

I knew you could do this, but I just haven't had the time to figure it all out. Now the fellows over at HDJunkie.com have written a clear procedure for getting HD video recordings off of your PVR. If you have Verizon FiOS' first generation PVR, then you know that managing all the HD recordings can be a p-i-t-a because the drive is SOOOOOO small for this activity (20GB! give me a break). With this procedure and my HTPC, I can offload those programs to the hard drive or burn them to DVD, and I should have enough drive space on the PVR at all times. As it is, I've had to delete some the kids' stuff just so I can time-shift my "My Name is Earl/The Office" viewing pleasure! Now I can watch "Heroes" without worrying about missing Jack Bauer's hero acts on "24". This should work for any "cable-provided" PVR.

A Verizon FIOS TV install
This sounds a lot like my experience with FIOS TV. If you can get Verizon FIOS service, do it! If you can get Verizon FIOS service and FIOS-TV, do it!
Good-bye Cable TV, Hello Fiber
